[Review] Ruined Sinner by Becker Gray
“Ruined Sinner” by Becker Gray is the fourth book in the Hellfire club series and it follows the turbulent love story between Phineas Yates and Aurora Lincoln-ward.
Readers familiar with this series would have been eagerly anticipated this book -as Gray wove these characters and Aurora’s disdain for Phin throughout all the other books of the series. Readers new to this series do not particularly have to read through the prior books to understand this story, but it helps.
It was great to see who the real Phin was, and how deeply he cares for Aurora. Most especially because he is portrayed as a reckless playboy throughout the other books in the series. What he really is, is a cinnamon roll hero I guess? Sure he feels fiercely protective of Aurora, but at his essence he’s actually just SO in love with her.
Aurora finally gets to uncover the real Phin through their fake -relationship, and falls for him again, which is what led to them fighting in the first place. She’s a character to has experienced trauma- that is more detailed in Owen & Tanith’s book.
I think there was a few loose ends to this plot/story.
Like what the hell happened with Chad? Was he actually a figment of her imagination during scenes in this book? That’s not made completely clear.
I also think Aurora kind of undermines and constantly second guesses Phin - even though I think he does his fair share of grovelling and telling her the truth that she blantantly disregards like 0.5seconds later.
Also the scene in Lennox’s book- where Aurora tearfully interrupts Lennox and Sloane at a party, isn’t even touched on here ?! It just does not make a whole lot of sense - and honestly it doesn’t make Aurora a great heroine.
This isn’t my favourite book of the series, Lennox and Sloane’s was 🔥🔥🔥🔥 but it’s still worth reading to find out Phin & Aurora’s story.
I can’t wait for Sera & Rhys’ story and whist Gray doesn’t touch on their interactions much during this book, she does in others and it’s magnificent watching those two interact- I’m sure their book will be amazing.
