A typical Monday morning starts with me waking up and snoozing my alarm multiple times, whilst repeatedly feeling my forehead in the hopes that I might have a temperature and might be able to call in sick. This plan is a failure...so off to start my Monday...Work, work, work
Today isn’t just an ordinary Monday, I have recently been thinking about undertaking a PT course for personal development as well as hopefully a new career option so I can break the chains of an ordinary desk job. Last week I went to check out an institution (sounds like a cult/insane asylum) to find out all about it and this week I head to good ole Les Mills to chat with PT Manager about what he looks for when hiring and what I should consider when choosing a method of delivery for the course as well as the institute.
Top advice from PT Manager:
If you are looking at getting qualified consider the following:
1. Delivery mode - online or face to face...face to face is better even if it is part time, you are likely to develop greater business skills (because after all this is a business) and become more personable whilst teaching
2. Whilst you are getting your Cert 4 in Fitness, obtaining a Cert 3 prior and hitting this gym floor as a floor instructor is an advantage. You will meet potential clients and learn basic interaction/selling technique
3. Smile - clients like a happy, personable PT. Noone wants to be scowled at! PT is hard and a smile and a laugh will go a long way. This could make or break you.
I consider this a productive meeting, and he was absolutely amazing to meet. Would recommend before committing to a qualification a chat with someone in the industry is the way to go.
In saying all that, nothing much else went right today, so I say...
