In late 2014 a Beautiful Dark Brown natural hair plussize Single mother was introduced to screens around the world as the leading lady of her own show in #BecomingNia. She was played by my sister @bebeautifulla It was an honor to not only create the series and develop the charcters but also write & direct 7 of the 8 episodes that aired on the web bringing in views of more than 340k. This series tackled body image issues, co parenting, dating w/ children and financial hardship authentically and honestly. Tears, Fears and Cheers were shared from audiences all over the globe who finally felt represented and understood. I dont think Shawanna Davis (who actually created the title #BecomingNia) nor I ever guessed that our lil shoe string budget show would ever end up as part of a teaching curriculum. We are honored and grateful to provide a platform for our community to positively build from. Im glad to announce that both @bebeautifulla and @mybeardbelike will be back on screen together again this fall in a new series that ill be directing called #FML Thank you #spellmancollege for SEEING us
