Full hive boxes. The bees are bearding a little at the entrance. At night the bearding covers the landing platform and the entrance with hanging bees.

Fantastic example of bearding. Little bee bodies make a lot of heat, so if the inside of the box gets too hot they hang off the front. Some clever person called it a beard a long time ago and so that's what it is! #bees #backyardbeekeeper #beehive #beebearding

The bees are directionally orientated at the entrance. The uniformed pattern at night is surprising. The noise is a very soft and smooth humming.

The temperature during the day was high 90’s and at midnight it was mid 80’s.
