hello! does the maximum word count have to absolutely be stopped at 1,000? my fic is currently at 1,018 and complete

short answer: yes, your story should be stopped at 1000 words.

longer answer: there are really only two rules in the plp. 1) write a story about primarily dan and phil and 2) keep it below 1000 words. 

now, the majority of writers who’ve done longer pieces in the past are going to struggle with that limit. it’s difficult to come from a mindset of writing as many words as you want or even aiming for a high word count (like in the pbb) and then suddenly having to reverse that. but that’s kind of the fun of the plp - teaching yourself how to get your point across and tell your story in less words rather than more. 

so the first thing that you can do is to talk with your beta. can they find any areas you could cut or reword to eliminate the last 18 words? maybe some description you could do without? dialogue tags you can drop? it’s usually not too difficult to cut 20-50 words from a drabble if you’re careful and focus on what really needs to be there to make the story make sense. sometimes it actually gets better when you’re forced to be more concise!

however, all this being said, this limit is meant as a challenge for you, not an inflexible requirement. as mods, we’re not going to disqualify anyone if their fic is 1,008 words or whatever. honestly, we’re not even going to check them (unless it’s extremely obvious... like a 7k fic or something ridiculous). if you say it’s 1000, we’ll take your word for it. if you say “sorry but it’s 1,027″, we’ll reblog it anyway bc we’re pretty chill here. you’re only competing against yourself.

ngl I'm kinda disappointed (ah that hurts to say) with this upload I mean.. was kinda expecting more real spooks and squishy touchy scared Dan? Thursday was the shit for sure they should have put dil for like Monday or sth. felt like they climbed back into their DnP personas with this one oh well it was nice to have a 25 minute episode.

ikr i mean they sort of blew it with the “its gonna be so much more intense than pt” then giving us dil cause = = i mean come on. I felt like they really should have played at least one more actual scary stuff then revert to dil. but im still really amazed at how much they’ve been uploading! 

now I’m curious as to what they’ll do for christmas cause if they’re doing a dillmas part2 i swear to god

phil needs to control the games for spooky week because i just imagine dan like: "phiwwww *tugs on arm* *hangs onto him* fuck shit what's happening oh jesus *hides*" and just like clinging to his side bc jumpscares

honestly tho the this touchy clingy side of dan is so cute? moments in and you get little punches little pats little tugs and the back of his hand resting on his phil’s shoulders with his sweaterpaws I’m going to die this week.
