This California Avocado Beef and Black Bean Burger has the hearty taste of beef, the smoothness of avocado, and the earthy taste of black beans. This burger is tasty and filling, and it's great for a summer barbecue or any time you want a burger.
Ingredients: 1 lb ground beef. 1 can 15 oz black beans, drained and rinsed. 1 ripe California avocado, mashed. 1/2 cup breadcrumbs. 1/4 cup diced red onion. 2 cloves garlic, minced. 1 tsp cumin. 1/2 tsp chili powder. Salt and pepper to taste. 4 hamburger buns. Lettuce, tomato, and additional avocado slices for toppings.
Instructions: Put the breadcrumbs, diced red onion, minced garlic, cumin, chili powder, salt, and pepper in a large bowl. Add the ground beef and mix it all together. Combine well. Take the mixture and shape it into 4 burger patties. Brush a grill or grill pan with oil and heat it over medium-high heat. The burger patties should be cooked for four to five minutes on each side, or until they're done the way you like them. On the grill, toast the buns for one minute, or until they get a little brown. For each burger, start with a lettuce leaf on the bottom bun. Then add a burger patty, tomato slices, and more avocado slices. Put the other half of the bun on top and serve hot.
