Bear stood among the pretty things that lined the boutique and sighed again. It was weird to be here. If you were to stand on the outside and look in on what was happening, it would be hard to make sense of it all. Bear had never cared for the thoughts of other people, especially when he was happy with what he was doing. But, even he had to admit. This... it was just a little weird.
"Drink?" Bret would ask from his side, holding out a mimosa. Maybe there was a look on her face, or maybe she really was a cop on her way to becoming detective with a set of skills... Either way, she spoke as his eager lips took a sip."They aren't that strong. Boutique won't let us get drunk and all." Maybe he was wrong but he wondered if she were disappointed by the same fact.
"I'm fine." Bear would address and down the rest of his drink. "Yeah, you were right though, weak."
"Isn't this amazing? Did you see the rainbow dress?!" Scout's happiness would make Bear want to sigh again, but he wouldn't be rude enough to do it in front of her. Samuel obviously was not an unhappy man, but he also didn't have the energy of the sun trapped inside his head. How there were two girls in his daily life with such power, he didn't really know.
"Okay," Honey would join them with her smile and untouched mimosa. "They said we can start picking, you guys want to help? I didn't do a good job of narrowing down the styles I like.." She'd chuckle.
Scout would beam radiantly, showing an almost unbelievable amount of support. Honey would giggle and take her hand, off down one wing as Bear watched her go.
Bret would take Bear's empty glass and replace it with her own as they all moved away. He wondered why Bret was being so nice. Should he be worried? Greyson had assured him a while ago that things wouldn't change, and Bear had believed him. But since he wasn't married yet, maybe he really shouldn’t speak with confidence.. Perhaps she just felt bad for the only guy of the group, but he couldn’t be sure.
His lips would sip at the glass, trying not to be greedy, or look desperate as he sorted through the wedding gowns. Before long, a slender form would float to his side smelling softly of citrus.
"Hiya,"Honey would greet.
"Hey, lady of the hour." He'd grin.
"You okay?"
He'd act smoothly, but his defenses were immediately up. "And what do you mean by that?"
"Well, I know you agreed to come,"
"Because I wanted to."
"Sure, yes," She'd giggle despite having been interrupted . "And I appreciate it, darling, I do. But you don't look 100% like you.." Her hand would reach out to rest on his arm affectionately. "I just want to make sure you're comfortable."
"Hey, listen, kid," His voice was soft and sure as he assured her. "I'm okay with this, I'm happy for you. Now, let's focus on the dresses because this is your day, okay? No more being so selfless, yeah?" Bear would chuckle and begin to focus on the gowns.
A comfortable silence would grow between them. Well, silent as could be with Honey humming along to the music of the shop. Questions would flood Bear's mind and he would realize that his brain had been crowded with curiosity regarding the pair since the moment of their announcement. Grey had laid comfort when he felt lost for the first time. Handling him with care, and Bear would like to think those thoughts were put to bed. But his mind wandered still.
"So," His voice would begin before his mind was even on board for the discussion. "I-.."
Honey would stop, placing all focus on the man who, again, looked confused. "Yes, Bear?"
"You ever get scared with... this?"
Honey would take but a second to collect that he meant her future life with Greyson, and her body would produce a surprising giggle. "Never ever."
"Really?"
A shake of her head. "Well, not really, of course not. And I don't mean to say it's wrong when people do feel nervous, I only mean that, no.. Personally, I feel no fear with Greyson."
"And like the future? Tough times and.." The man didn't mean to be a downer, nor was he hoping she would change her mind. It was simply a moment Bear was unsure would be in his life.
Honey would just keep that same smile on her lips, hair shaking at him gently as she gathered her words. "That's life, that's marriage. I'm going to annoy him or mess up, and he's going to do the same. He and I will fight because that can be completely healthy. I'm not afraid of anything he and I will be faced with." Her shoulders would shrug as she carried on. "He's going to make me the woman who yells 'we've been married for years and you can't even help me bake this cake?' And I'll find another song that makes him say 'why did I ever ask to marry you', and we'll be fine, and our love won't change. With all we've been through.. It's right."
Bear wouldn't really know what to say to that. Obviously, she knew best for her life, not to mention all her years with Greyson, knowing who they were together. He couldn't say he was jealous, a ring had never crossed his mind. But, as long as Grey was still there share himself with Bear, he knew the rest wasn't really his business. Besides, who would stay mad at Honey? The pair weren’t him. They wanted this, they wanted each other.
"You Okay?"
"Yeah, I'm just happy for you, kid." He'd give her hair a light rustle, leaning in to kiss her temple. “Now let’s find you a dress.”
