since we all seem to have started figuring out how to percieve time, I have a theory of sorts: when you're, say, 25, you won't have 25 years worth of memories, you'll have more like 10, because most of it is dull routine activities your brain has graciously filtered out due to their unimportance.
so the theory part is, if you want to remember something and truly feel like you've gotten somewhere, celebrate it. not even necessarily big things - finally having a conversation with that person you were too nervous to talk to forever, getting a dog, learning a new recipie you enjoy. that's important, and you should treat yourself for it!
go out and see a movie with friends! buy one of those very gooshy-looking cakes from costco and have it all to yourself! dance around your apartment in a fit of glee! tell your brain that this is progress, because to it every milestone is worth remembering!
...I'll admit I haven't tried this out, though. if anyone has, or if anyone does, I'd like to know the results! for I Like To Know Things purposes
