It actually fascinates Kitsuragi - how totally oblivious the man is to his surroundings, letting word after word slip out from his mouth, boasting about how ‘weird’ and ‘odd’ the ‘new guy’ is. A germaphobe, probably, carrying a notebook around wherever he goes... all that stuff. That’s why Kim hadn’t actually said anything - but enjoyed the show instead, with his hands folded onto the small of his back, posture straight, face blank as he observes.

... Until another colleague - a woman, he believes her name is Tina Chen - seems to feel uncomfortable enough to actually alert Gavin Reed to who is standing behind him. Their gazes meet then, once the Detective turns around with a surprised frown stretching over his face, muttering a tiny curse once realising that his victim is lingering behind his frame.

“... ---Now that we got that out of the way...”, Kitsuragi decides to say after a little while - a single black brow rising up behind the dark rim of his glasses, “... May I introduce myself the official way - Kim Kitsuragi, Lieutenant, just transferred over from the Chicago Police Department.”

He offers the woman his hand - pointedly ignoring the disaster of a man next to her - a polite expression stretching over his middle-aged features as he focuses his dark gaze on her form.

“Pleased to meet you, Miss.”

“You were absolutely not supposed to see that,” Morgan sighed, pinching the bridge of her nose. She hadn’t heard anyone come into the lab over the thrusters of the suit she had been secretly working on for months. Something she wasn’t supposed to be doing because Morgan had promised her mother she wouldn’t chase the superhero life. How was she not supposed to? It was in her blood.

Morgan spoke a command, the AI in her ear confirming, and the suit compacted itself into two bracelets around her wrists. “Please don’t say anything to my mom.”

Lara had been consumed by how she felt for him. What was only a crush on an older cop had evolved into an honest, intense love for his younger self. She had no right to be there with him, after all - it wasn't her time and she didn't belong there. An aching pang of guilt had settled in her chest when her feelings became apparent. Could she be preventing him from being with someone else?

She appeared calm on the surface but, as Phil spoke, she was a mess of coiled tension inside. She was lucky could hear him over the thundering of her pulse. Don't, Callahan. Don't say it...

Before she knew it, she was in his arms and burying her face in his chest. She simply could not have been close enough for her liking - the mere moment that word left his mouth, she was done for.

SHE WAS COVERED IN DIRT, HER FINGERTIPS STAINED AND HER ARMS FULL OF FLOWERS AND PRODUCE. SHE SHOULD HAVE GRABBED A BASKET BEFORE SHE HAD HEADED OUTSIDE, BUT SHE HAD THOUGHT SHE’D GRAB A FEW THINGS RATHER THAN THE ARMFUL SHE’D STROLLED BACK INSIDE WITH. It was probably due to having so much in her arms that she nearly barrelled headfirst into Lucien. Having the decency to look sheepish, she managed to only drop a few flowers onto the floor and stooped in an attempt to pick them back up. ❝ Sorry, Lucien-I should have looked where I was going. I-Feyre told me you were coming home-or, coming back to Velaris, I suppose it’s not home for you-I just didn’t expect you so soon. Hi. ❞

   jesper isn’t expecting himself to laugh. but he does, something cracking through his chest after all the hell they’ve been put through in the past few days. it’s sudden and vivid, and he feels something loosening up when he does. they’re alive. they’re alive, and it’s because of kuwei, and kuwei’s inferni abilities, and saints, he’ll never figure out how many things he has up his sleeve. 

    “ you’re gonna have to drum up a little more trouble for me to get to that point, ” he says, raising his eyebrows at him. kuwei looks pleased with himself, especially with the pinpricks of fire that he can see dotting the area a distance behind him. that’d definitely throw off the dime lions and razor gulls trying to tail them. 

    he reaches out, flicking a bit of ash that clings to the line of kuwei’s shirt and brushing it off then, entirely knowing that kuwei’s eyes track him the entire way. “ you might have to do that again if brekker depends on you for it. and let me tell you, he will not entertain any type of talk like that. trust me, i’ve tried. ”
