And if you must be a gospel singer / musician, you must also be sound in spiritual matters and be groomed in the word of God. And also most importantly, you must be born - again. For you can't do the things of the spirit in the flesh. For a carnal / unspiritual man is not endowed with the faculty. 1 Corinthians 2:14 Also note that, as a singer / musician. Gospel music entails that a music minister is skillful with a strong level of musicianship. And for Musicality & Spirituality, each one is as important as the other. We should strive to balance both. I was privileged to be at a worship service, the worship leader who led the congregation in worship had difficulty maintaining a key, she couldn't maneuver but unconsciously modulated in three different keys unconsciously in one song during worship. (I got lost) As much as I tried not to be bothered about it, I got lost too and also got disconnected but managed to worship. I later heard she said God isn't concerned about the skill but the heart. If you must be a singer or musician, get the required skill, and if you must be a gospel singer / musician / music minister, be spiritually sound & be musically inclined.
