Injection Technique Mini Guide
Hello everyone! My apologies for being gone for quite some time! I landed a job as a Unit Secretary and i have been studying my rear off to be a better part of the team!
Anyways, up and onwards for our studies to prepare you for your three main injections!!
IM (Intramuscular):
-Angle: 90° Sites: Deltoid, Vastus Lateralis, Ventrogluteal. Needle: Usually 22-25 gauge, 1-1.5 Inch Tips: Stabilize skin, dart motion, aspirate only if required by policy.
SubQ (Subcutaneous):
Angle 45° (90° if using short needle) Sites: Back of arm, abdomen (2 inch from navel), thigh. Needle: 25-27 gauge, 3/8-5/8 inch, Tips: Pinch skin gently to avoid muscle.
ID (Intradermal):
Angle: 5-15° Sites: Forearm (commonly for TB testing) Needle 26-28 gauge, 3/8-5/8 inch Tips: Inject slowly, look for bleb formation (Small rising circle/bump).
