Peggy didn’t exactly love having to stay hidden all the time while at SHIELD, but she couldn’t take the risk of having too many people know she was here. As far as most everyone knew -- she had died back in 1952.
However -- that couldn’t be further from the truth.
The only ones who knew she was alive was Steve Rogers, Bucky Barnes, and Nick Fury. And in just a few moments -- Agent Maria Hill. The woman would be brought up to full speed on what really happened to Peggy Carter.
Her eyes glanced up at the clock on the wall of her office. The office that was kept a secret on the lowest level of the base. She had her own secret entrance and everything. Whatever she needed to stay out of the public eye. It was lonely down there, but once in a while Bucky would come visit or drop her off some lunch. She didn’t get to see Steve as much as she would like to. He was mainly off with the Avengers now days. It made her wonder if the rest of them would ever learn that she was alive? She very much wanted to meet Tony Stark because he reminded her a lot of Howard. A better version of Howard.
Peggy was snapped from her thoughts when there was a tap at door. “Come in please,” she said and then stood up, smoothing her hands down the front of her dress pants. She smiled as Nick and Maria walked in. “Good morning,” she said to the both of them, but was looking more directly at Fury.
“Morning,” he replied and then looked over at Maria. “Agent Hill I’d like to introduce you to Peggy Carter -- the very first director of SHIELD. In fact, she’s still pretty much running things from behind the shadows.”
