it's ok it's not a crime, no one's watching as long as you don't turn around

i love the way bfdi uses its recovery centers in that, even though they are ways to kinda cheat death and make it mostly a non issue, its not unconditional. (with the exception of the personal recovery centers) you still need someone to want to recover you. you need someone to remember to recover you. theyre constantly playing around with this condition too!! clock being forgotten in bfb, needle needing to find someone to finish her recovery in bfdia, the line at the end of bfb where firey and leafy ask flower to put their names into a revovery center from time to time, and of course leafy being essentially the only one to truly be mortal in the way that she never can be certain that anyone will ever want to recover her.
its... really really cool to me how they take this very fantastical method of trivializing death and ground it in a world so it becomes so much more than a simple handwavey writing tool. i also really enjoy how it emphasizes a point theyre constantly trying to make in the series about the importance of a community. building a community and maintaining one would be so valuable for the objects because it essentially will allow them to live forever... but also in that same vein it speaks to the idea of caring for people regardless of your personal opinion on them... to at least ensuring these people have the chance to change and find those relationships... find that community that will truly care about them. idk. i love it a lot.
Guys I feel like my oc Casey bc wtf
I’m emptying out my pockets to find a piece of avocado…
EXCUSE ME SUR WHERE DID YOU COME FROM???
Ask game thing for Casey and Mae
4. Describe the three most important photographs your OC owns
14. Does your OC hold grudges? How good are they at letting things go? Do they believe in second chances?
23. What is your OC like when they're angry?
46. Does your OC carry any guilt with them?
49. Does your OC fear death?
Your starving the Echoes of Starlight fans bro feed us /silly (no pressure of course)
Casey:
4. First picture is a silly selfie of him and Mae, the next is a picture of the stage crew from a theatre performance he worked. The last one is a physical photograph that he has safe in his bag, a picture of little kid Casey and his grandmother, Zelda Graves under a large maple tree in her back yard. Just ignore the person with a scratched out face standing beside them.
14. For the most part, Casey doesn’t hold grudges, he greatly believes in second chances and he’s quick to forgive. However, there’s a few people he’ll never forgive for what they did. On surface value, he seems just like a happy, whimsical cinnamon roll, but he’s got a lot of repressed issues which are more noticeable in arc 2 and 3
23. When Casey is upset, he tries to contain it, but he’s a crier, an angry crier. Early on he struggles with how to express himself. He hates feeling upset.
46. In terms of Arc one, no. Later however, that poor boy
49. Kind of, in a way he thinks of death as something poetic and morbidly beautiful, he’s kinda naive in that way, thinking of death like something from a storybook. He’s never really thought about him dying.
Mae:
4. First photograph is a picture of Casey looking up at the stars up in the mountains, second is a picture of Mae, his older sister, and their aunt. The third picture is his pigeon Syrup on top of his favorite stuffed animal.
14. Unlike his best friend, Mae can and will hate you forever if you mess with him or the people he loves.
23. Mae is very likely to blow up and get in your face, spurting creative and hurtful insults that are shockingly accurate. That’s when he’s truly angry, he gets irritated easily which is different.
46. Not necessarily, no. According to @pompeiiii he’s a “have a day you deserve” kind of person, he’ll unapologetically be shitty to shitty people. He doesn’t care what people think about him
49. He would act like he doesn’t, but the thought of dying alone utterly terrifies Mae
