So I nearly made a big mistake today 😅 Due to the flooding and lack of work I have lost track of the days. We had pretty much been declared a disaster zone after the #TownsvilleFloods so there was no going out or going to work. I keep track of my days because of work. I had headed home early to do a clean up of our house due to the mould infestation from all the rain and was idly wondering when my flight was. I took a moment to click, check the date then very quickly realised that a) my flight was tonight and b) I had not packed. At all. And I STILL had to clean my walls and floor before I left 😱 Thankfully my lovely husband helped out and got my clothes for my luggage, put the washing on for me and pitched in to help with scrubbing the walls, and we re-sandbagged our back door. I was able to finish the cleaning up after a few hours and quickly pack my clothes. Thankfully my flight is so late or I wouldnt have had enough time! Oops! The joys of living in Australia... our native wildlife 😅 These are a few photos taken in our local community of Freshwater crocodiles out and about - another reason to remember why you shouldn't play in flood waters and definitely don't allow kids to either! A drive by the river. The water came up over the walking paths and trails where people go for their afternoon runs. There were picnic benches all sunken under water and until yesterday we were still waiting for trucks to come in to do deliveries. The airforce has started doing Essentials Drops into the city now to help those worst hit by the floods. Multiple homes are currently unlivable and we still have people in evacuation centers. An impressive sinkhole that opened up at the weir. Rain had eased off thankfully and was back at work on cleanup today. Normally on a Saturday morning we would be preparing for our #IngressFS however due to severe weather events we have had to cancel our event. Our local hometown has been declared a disaster zone with flooding in the area. Our local dam is currently sitting at 197% capacity and that is with the flood gates currently open. Rain is expected to continue through to next week with schools and local businesses closed and evacuation centers now open. For fellow local agents, please stay safe! Today I'm visiting my Aunt and Uncle's farm in #MountMolar with my sister. It was really exciting to see what it's like on a farm and the process from germination of the crops, to growth to harvest.
