I feel like I’m in a race

Against time where I’m

Forced to choose between

Being fast or doing what’s right

But If I’m not fast enough, I  

Will be seen as a fallen champion

Who used to be the top prospect

In a big pond, but now is a tadpole

Who can’t even stop himself from

Drowning in a kiddie pool, but if

I’m not doing what’s right, I would

Be betraying my conscience and

Giving away pieces of my soul for

A holiday discount price while chains

Slowly puts its hold on me in the pose

Of a puppet. However the timer hasn’t

Reached zero and there is still time

For me to make a great escape only  

Seen in dramas that you would subscribe

To a streaming service for with no

Hesitation, but I know there is much

Risk in going that course for me and

I better have a plan so foolproof it

Would be ripe for a box office hit

Because I can’t afford to go backwards

Yet that tick, tick of that clock is beat

Boxing my mind reminding me the choice

Is only a few rest stops away from its

Destination.
