Hate

Also today I received both my first fan email (through my website) and my first hate comment (on FB of course). After one month of being tech-and-social-media-enthusiast, that's quite a result. Not sure what to think though. The hate comment is pretty violent (and I keep having nightmares involving the person who posted it).

Blue

The Nasa scientist turned out to be my first cyber punk encounter ! He had very bright blue hair and I felt like in a Sci fi movie. Also he said "I think I'm 34 but not entirely sure, when you reach that kind of age you forget about it". Which I think is true, except for 33. I need to talk to a numerologist about that.

Tomorrow I'm meeting a sexy Nasa scientist. (I don't know about how sexy he really is, but just being a Nasa scientist IS sexy to me)

I'm definitely not going to try the no-shampoo bacteria yet. Even if that would be a good icebreaker topic.

Never,

Never, ever, start reading comments on a news website after midnight on a Sunday. 

You'll find that most comments are a proof that human nature can sometimes be very bad (who would write about a baby born with a twin foetus in her throat that she's probably "a bad soul who ate her twin brothers ?")

Then you'll be looking for the few comments that would prove you wrong (before you go to bed, you're happy to learn that some people actually think we should respect a baby who by the way lives in Hong Kong).

But meanwhile, you'll stumble across more and more bad comments. For which you will need to look for even more reasonnable comments. 

It never stops.

And you will dream of babies inside babies.

Roots

A few weeks ago I tried watermelon radish (and actualy said out loud "oh this is a funny radish, it looks like a watermelon"). My friend L. said I was right, that is was actually CALLED a watermelon radish. 

Almost immediately I went to my favorite food coop to buy some. There was actually a sticker "watermelon radish". My friend was right !

(I will never doubt anything that I'm told after I spent 2 years not believing my colleague who said he dipped his cheese in his morning coffee. One day I saw him casually  dipping his cheese AND his saucisson and I immediately regretted not having trusted a single thing he told me for all this time.)

But that's not the end of the story. The sticker did not match the radish. I actually bought "Sun artichokes" (that kind of look like a sun inside. Or a potato. Not at all like an actual artichoke).

I still don't know what a watermelon radish looks like from the outside. And I won't cut in half all the roots section of the coop.

1000 books

My friend B. is 33 too. He just realized he has only a limited number of books to read before his death. Provided he can read until he's 77 (we can expect his vision to deteriorate after that, even if I sometimes want to name him Eagleye because he can see when I'm not happy, or when I am tired or when I don't like the cocktail I just chose - even if I try very hard to conceal it), and provided that he reads 2 books a months (a hopeful assessment based on the fact that he just bought an e-book reader) that would be 44 x 12 x 2 = 1056 books.

That seems to me a fair amount of pages to turn, but he really dreads the idea. He doesn't want to re-read anything anymore.

I actually want to reread Wuthering Heights for the 6th time now. 1000 books is like an ocean of books, and Wuthering Heights is one of my islands.

Dating app alchemy

Maybe one day we'll discover phones have secret divinating powers. If the screen freezes when I'm swiping a guy "no" on a dating app, I always reconsider and finally restart and swipe "yes". Just in case it's actually my soulmate.
