Here’s a look at the latest #beingbyron comic that dropped late last night (early this morn? Whatevs). If you haven’t already go follow my comics page @strangeonecomics 💀. . . Continue to swipe to see a time lapse of the whole comic which I create in #procreate on my #ipadpro ✏️. I start with a rough thumbnail sketch in my #moleskinesketchbook to figure out the basic composition of the page and the writing. Sometimes I will take a photo of the sketch and bring it in to procreate, but for these I just use it as reference. I then use the 4 panel template I set up beforehand and sketch out the artwork. I usually get the text done next as it tends to be the most tedious part, so I get it out of the way early. Then I put a layer of light blue above the sketch and change the opacity setting to screen. Figuring out the final linework from there is my favorite part (inking stage). I use the blue line sketch underneath as a starting point, but I like to be loose and free in the inking stage. To me that is where the pure artistry is most prevalent. After I have the final line work I add in black tones and shadows.
