'Our lanterns rose into the air, carried upon the wings of grief and the light of hope shared between all of us. They were a sign of the price we had paid together, that pain, suffering came together in a duality with hope, it always would. That we may have been hurt, but we would never be broken. That always, we would look up and know how to find our way once more.'
Is it really you standing there, or am I dreaming once more?
You look different, your eyes look tired
Your frame is lighter, your smile torn
Is it really you, my love?
I am not the man you fell in love with
I am not the man you once adored
I am not your kind and gentle husband
And I am not the love you knew before
Would you fall in love with me again
If you knew all I've done?
The things I cannot change
Would you love me all the same?
I know that you've been waiting, waiting for love
Inspired by "EPIC: The Musical" because I'm in-love with that musical, and when I heard that song it immediately made me think of these two, but I just couldn't get the sketches 'right' for a while. Then Sleep Token released their new Album and apparently that was the music that gave me the art-inspiration, go figure!
Anyway Storytime;
- Nassiandor and his Wife were separated during the Sundering, and she lost their child and believed he had passed.
- Somewhere along the timeline, she adopted Alyraei who's featured here; because he needed a mother/teacher for Druidry, and he reminded her so much of her late partner and the child she lost.
- During the DF Era; during the fight against the Primalist's to save Amirdrassil, she heard a voice that sounded way too similar -- and there he was; a Demon Hunter but absolutely still her husband.
The song just resonated with the story I've been writing in the background for them, maybe one day I'll do an animatic but laziness is overwhelming; woe is me.
