My name is Kailas and I am from London, I have worked as a digital photographer for the last 8 years but outside of work I am strictly an analogue photographer. To me there is nothing more magical than being in a room lit only by a deep red light, the smell of chemicals in the air and watching an image appearing from a blank piece of paper. The novelty of that has never worn off.
Almost a year ago I started the Grainy Day Collective with a few friends from New York who also love to shoot film and it has really helped to keep me motivated and shooting as much film as possible.
A little about this set of images. In April I spent a week in Manila, soaking in the local culture while trying to photograph it all. Manila is a city that seems to have a wealth disparity issues. Children in rags beg next to brand new Ferrari's. But if you spend some time exploring the manic dirty streets bustling with jeepneys you will find hidden beautiful gems.

There has been a mystery about the name of Pen yr Ole Wen which is translated as "Slope of the White Light," but I think my photo sheds some light on this name. The lake, Llyn Ogwen, you will see in some other shots in the next few days. ADOX
