2 steps forward and 3 steps back...or so it seems sometimes....
On this healing journey, some days are complete and total victories. You've had a "light-bulb" moment, made some real effort to journal or take steps to get better, and then some days are total shit. I don't look forward to the shit days....who does? However, those days are just as important. We can learn as much, if not more on those days than we do on the victory days. Shit days used to really drag me down and make me feel like I wasn't making any progress whatsoever. It's in those days that we truly see who we are becoming. We see how our strength in icky situations has improved and we realize we handled that shit day better than we have before. Healing from any kind of trauma, especially if it has been a life-long event, is extremely painful and downright hard. Give yourself a little break, especially on the shit days.....after all, we are only human. Continue to hold your head high and keep striving to heal and love yourself.
