The weekend away to one of his family’s country homes was much needed. For a few days, Bella and him got to spend time in their own little bubble. Far away from the stress of ranks and jobs and affiliations saying they couldn’t spend time together. It was a level of intimacy he’d not shared with anyone and by the end, it led to him feeling things he’d not thought he was capable of. Not often did Milo find himself scared of anything. Fear was not becoming in his profession. However, whatever he’d felt at the end of those three days and what it could mean, terrified him. It didn’t settle in fully until he was back at home, alone again. What if someone found out? Would he lose Seraphim? Was this more than just a fling with a Famine? Thoughts circled around and around in his head trying to analyze it to the death. The only thing he could think of to do in response was to stop talking to Bella altogether and avoid The Savoy at all costs. Should be easy enough.
Almost two weeks went by and finally he caved, messaging her after the attack on Death’s boat. Milo had been there to act the part, shut down the engines, and get the truck ready to bring the rest of Pestilence safely back to headquarters. He also knew that Bella was on attack and seeing how some of his own crew fared getting out of there he wondered who all made it out from Famine and War. Waiting at the hospital for news on a Dominion and some others, he’d texted her to check in. He couldn’t exactly make time to stop by, but it was something. At some point, he knew that he would need to see her again. There was sure to be a confrontation and he was not looking forward to that part.
Still, there he was almost a week later, knocking on her door. Fully prepared for her to tell him to fuck off and he wouldn't blame her for it. "Hey," he greeted when she opened the door and leaned a hand against the frame and his head against his arm. "Can I come in?" His eyes pleading and slightly glazed from the several drinks he'd consumed earlier in the night. It was almost a complete relief to see her again, even if they'd gone many months in between seeing each other in the past. This time definitely felt different. It was different.
