A Letter I Wish I could Read My 15 Year Old Self
Dear 15 Year Old Bella,
A few things are going to happen in your life over the next few years, they will make you a stronger person.
Your sanity is going to be tested. You’re going to have to help some of the people closest to you in your life. You’ll have to leave some. Whilst also grow up at the same time.
Please be aware of men who only want to take what they can from you. They will suck the energy out of you and because you’re such a kind soul you will take it all on the chin until you decide that enough is enough. Men will take advantage of you, one even forcing himself on you and making you feel like you did something wrong. Remember this: you did nothing wrong, simply trust someone you thought cared about you. But, you will stand up for yourself, take him to court to prove a point and that is he can never treat women like this again. You took the fall for women and stood up for us all!
Due to this behavior from men you will experience some issues with eating.
Firstly you will start to compare yourself to every other girl out there, you’ll look at magazines and think you have to be skinnier, prettier and not who you were born to be. You will struggle for many years with eating and how to do it without feeling crap about yourself. The struggle is very real when you can’t feel good about yourself without sticking your fingers down your throat. I’m telling you now for years you will hide from everyone who is close to you what you really feel deep down, what is hurting your soul. These eating disorders will bring you years of hating your body, scars on your knuckles and intolerances to several foods in the long run.
It is with these experiences that will make you want to help young girls in the future before they experience the pressure of being a teen, before they get themselves into a bad situation with men, before they look at themselves in the mirror and think that they’re not good enough. Before they think they can’t eat a piece of cake or a dinner without purging it. One day you will realise the reason you went through all of this was to teach other girls to love themselves.
You are amazing and when you grow up you will have amazing opportunities come your way. You’ll work at your favourite magazine – GIRLFRIEND for many years, you’ll study your heart out at radio school and make it to the Gold Coast where you’ll be speaking to thousands of people everyday in your own time slot.
Hey, you’ll even make it to TV where you’ll marry a stranger – and learn big life lessons about yourself and what you want out of life and relationships.
You’ll even be nominated for Cosmopolitan Women of The Year in 2017! SEE!
Dreams really do come true!
So move forward and have confidence knowing you will be happy and you will get everything you want out of life (and that’s only before you’re 30), coz you’re a powerful woman and you deserve all the success in the world.
Love 32 year old Bella xo
