You ever rewatch/reread something and a favored character comes up and you just... have to smile and go 'Hi', as if greeting an old friend? It feels like comfort, and delight, the thrill of seeing/reading their journey all over again, despite having done it before. It makes your cheeks tight and your eyes crinkle, and your heart bubbly- discovering a first crush, a puppy love, anew. A simple joy, a simple pleasure, in having characters you know and love, like childhood blankets, or that one item of well worn, well loved clothing, like hot drinks in the cold, and the rush of cool water in the heat. You meet them again, as if for the first time, though you know them now, and you have a place for them in your heart, and it feels like adventure and you can't help but be delighted you can fall in love with them all over again.
