Belzire in a hoody, for no reason really. I just wanted to see her in a hoody.
Rare thumbnail share, but I like how this one is turning out and I need to get motivated to work on pages.
I'm redoing the conversation Belz and Jacky have at the very beginning. As is, it isn't really accomplishing anything. I could get a lot more out of it.
New pages 24 and 25. The first is all new, the second is a redraw. I think redrawing comic pages is not a good use of my time without a good reason. I have always wanted to redo how Jacky got caught. The method is fine- but it didn't have any personality. I like this much more.
This will read better overall when I revisit the conversation she has with Belz at the beginning, which I have thumbed, but I'm still kicking around dialogue. If I change a few interactions up earlier in the story it'll make new pages easier to write. That's the goal at the moment.
I think Jacky was in the Cat's Way for a while before she went to live with Beel. She grew up as feral as Claudia would allow. She'd be fine. Something probably drove her to his farm. This doesn't really encapsulate what I think that would look like, but its what I drew haha
I don't usually show thumbs before pages, but I think there's some benefit in being noisy about these. I want people to realize I'm redoing earlier parts of the comic so they'll go back and look for story seeds that weren't there before. And I have so few girl OCs. Let Belz have big lady spotlight.
I'm really picky about keeping Jacky's losable animal vibe and wanted to change how she's captured without adding too many new pages. I also couldn't do something that would change her world view (make her even MORE suspicious and distrustful of people), because I need her to accept Herman. I had to think up a way to disarm her that is: - believable to me - not an overt betrayal - will not make her suspicious of the wrong body types - is relatable enough viewers won't think less of her ability to fend for herself for falling for it - is something she understands to be her own fuck up
So I just had Belz grab her head a lot and made some allusions to her spending lots of time in the forest, and Belz having reason to show up there. She's got reasons to worry about wildlife but not anyone plotting against her. When her captor grabs her head, she was already expecting it to be someone she knows. Seeding some other stuff too.
Big braid momma. I don't have the next one up yet, been too distracted with my que and Hetherev.
I was told to give my characters cake but most of them don't really eat, so I drew food. Herman doesn't because he's yarn. Gale doesn't because he's a god and has a weird god artifact lodged in his stomach. Jacky, Alf and Belzire (usually) only eat sacred bread, which keeps them from getting hungry.
Pg 63 I wanna try a different color palette with more purple but I do enjoy painting rain. Maybe too much. WIP of the next page is up on patreon.
