Pretty Pink Purse Tutorial
Hello, I’m Merry, and it’s very nice to meet you... wow I’d never thought I’d actually get this far. Starting a blog doesn’t seem to be anything ground breaking or world shattering, but it’s a big step for me. I’m really excited too, so I hope you find this tutorial, and as a result this blog, useful. So let’s get started!
Step 1: So first things first are the materials: A plain purse of your choice, decorative flowers of your choice, a bit of felt (depends on how big of a mirror you use), decorative pearls, pins, a bit of lace (depends on the length of the opening your purse), a small mirror, a hot glue gun, needle, thread, and scissors.
Step 2: Measure out length of lace and pin at the opening of the purse. I was unsure of using more pink for the purse, but decided on the white lace instead.
Step 3: Add another layer of lace to give a bit of flare. Pin as well.
Step 4: Now here you can either hand sew the lace, which I decided against, or use a hot glue gun. Carefully hot glued the lace. Be sure to use just enough to secure the lace, but not so much that it leaves noticeable bumps and ridges.
Step 5: Arrange decorative flowers to your liking and pin. I would suggest leaving your flowers pinned until the rest of the purse is finished. Better to try out different arrangements before permanently settling on one that doesn’t quite fit.
Step 6: Time to bust out the pearls! Arrange as you like, have fun. I went with a simple polkadot pattern. Using a needle and thread, secure the pearls to the purse. Alternatively you can hot glue them on to the purse. I did both.
Step 7. Okay, so I couldn’t give up on the pink lace. This might look confusing, but I promise it’ll make sense soon. Using you mirror as a base, pin your lace to a patch of felt in a circle.
Step 8: See how the mirror looks accentuated by the lace. Make adjustments where needed.
Step 9: Hot glue the lace to the felt and cut off the excess felt. Trace out the shape of the mirror and cut out another piece of felt.
Step 10:Now that you have everything cut out, it’s time to hot glue the spare bit of felt to the back of the mirror. After it cools, hot glue the mirror with the fabric base to the lace piece.
Step 11: It should look like this. Now it’s time to arrange your mirror. I went with the traditional course of kiddie purses and put it behind the flap of the purse.
Step 12: Once you’ve hot glued the mirror to your desired location, don’t forget to hot glue your flower arrangement!
Step 13: You’re finished! Time to take picture of your masterpiece and share with interweb... Or you know, your friends and family? Tehe...
That’s the complete tutorial on making a Pretty Pink Purse, and I hope you’ve all had fun making one of your own.
Sidenote (The procuration of materials): The purse and little mirrors, I purchased at Joann’s. I found them at the back of the store, where they kept their discounted items. The felt was leftover from my Deadpool pillow tutorial, and the pearls I purchased at Walmart. The lace was collecting dust in one of my bins, and the flowers were the hair ties they hand out at Build-a-Bears. Over all this purse was ridiculously affordable, and relatively simple to accomplish on a budget.
