The baby angel raised her hands towards Kayle, as if asking to be picked up. "Ugu ... ma... mamuuuu...." She babbled happily before she giggled. "Maam ... maamaaaa."
Instead of picking the child up, Kayle just stares at the baby angel as it raises its arms, way below its cradle, as if attempting to climb out. The infant, oblivious to the world, smiles at the Judicator. Kayle was not sure whether to smile back or leave, but she ended up complying and smiles to the young infant.
A child. Something Kayle hated. The feeling of…. something… growing inside her belly, the sickening feeling of nausea once in a while, the weight she cannot bear with.
And this was the result. An infant, someone who is much more of a angel that she was. She said that she wanted none of children, but then… it is the life of the married. It is the fate of all women, to bear such pain and suffer to make life. Kayle hated that role, and she wanted none of the disgusting feeling.
Was it worth all the pain?
After all, it was a new chapter of her life. Hundreds and thousands of years has she faced the world, with no one by her side. But was it actually the time where she looks to herself for once, to give herself the happiness she deserved?
Kayle thought she was already long ago.
She picks up the infant, and the baby angel’s smile grows wider, excited to be closer to her mother. Was it like this when she was born? Was it like this when everyone was born? Kayle smiles, and waves her finger to the infant, and in turn, the young angel grabs on it with her tiny fingers.
It felt… new. It feels like a new chance. A chance to give someone a proper life, to be able to be someone that she isn’t. Kayle can already imagine her daughter as she grows up, clad in dresses and laces, yet can still fight. Someone one who is sensible and kind. Someone who is open and just.
Someone like Kayle, yet also someone else.
The thoughts made Kayle shed a tear, and she brings her face close to the infant, giving her a kiss in the forehead.
"Hello there, little lady."
