The second date had been good so far. Quin had been a lot calmer and more relaxed, seemingly more focused on enjoying himself at this new taco place. Quin often loved going to new places. The amount of new stimulation made it a bit harder for Quin to focus, but Ben was more than entertaining enough to hold most of Quincy’s attention, though he couldn’t help but to point out parts of the decor that he enjoyed whenever he noticed it. For as adult as the boy seemed at times, he also was still a child in many ways.
But now they were on the beach, walking together. The sun was setting and Quin was looking out over the water, the sky turning a beautiful color and reflecting against the water to become picturesque. He didn’t realize that he had started going at an angle, his hand gently nudging into Ben’s, causing him to snap out of his daze. He gave a soft laugh and quickly drew his hand back. “Sorry. It’s just... really pretty. I know I’ve lived here my entire life, but I still am just amazed at how wonderful sunsets are on the beach.”
He gave a soft laugh. “I hope I wasn’t like... totally ignoring you.” He laughed and smiled brightly at Ben. “I really do like talking to you.” He ran his fingers through his hair. He was carrying his shoes at this point so that he could feel the sand between his toes.
