Mariana had some decisions and changes to make in her life after what happened over the weekend. There was no way she could go on like she had been and the one person she knew and trusted to give her sound advice on life and parenting and life as a parent was Amiyah. And that’s how she found herself up bright and early on her day off at her favorite coffee shop in Valdez, eagerly smiling at the older woman when she approached.

“Hey, thanks for coming,” she said after giving her a quick hug, motioning to the table she’d reserved. “I ordered it like you asked. They just finished making them so it’s still hot.” @benevolcntintent

hope for peace had dwindled over the years, though stan had tried his utmost to at least hold onto a thread of it, or at least appear to for the sake of everyone else that depended on him. nerves run rampant, but he doesn’t want the world to become aware of that fact. a friendly face is exactly what he needs and as if on cue, he spots amiyah in the distance, exactly the person he needed in that moment. it doesn’t take him long to approach her, hoping to get to her before she turns around -- so he can stun and astound her with his presence. “...well well well, if it isn’t my favourite human being in the room. or perhaps the world.” he speaks with enthusiasm, thankful to be in the presence of someone he knows he can trust. a face that reminds him that perhaps peace is possible, if they allow it to be. he wraps his arms around her coolly, places his glass against the bar behind her. “how’ve you been then, ami? having a good time?” he hopes she is, whilst stan liked to withhold from violent acts -- now, he was more than willing to fight on behalf of those he loved, cared about. // @benevolcntintent

WAR HAD TAUGHT HIM what it meant to see a ghost. a holding ground in the battlefield, he’d see visions of her across the desert, she would tell him everything would be okay. she would whisper for him to come home, and she would be there, waiting for him with open arms. perhaps he was right then to disbelieve for the man that came home was nothing more than an empty shell filled to the brim of merely anger and horror -------------------------- so when he stared upon familiar blonde tresses, legs that could go for miles that never belonged wrapped around his waist, he’d convinced himself he was looking at a phantom from the past. nothing could merit the return of someone to look at him as he stood, frozen on the sidewalk, eyes wide and angered before finally saying something to ground himself.  ❛   miya,  ❜    words spoken barely above a broken whisper, a means to choke on memories passed,  ❛  wh - what are you doing here?   ❜  ( @benevolcntintent  )

AND FOR THE FIRST TIME IN WHAT FELT like years , he choked. a blank stare coats normally gruff features and for a moment he’s uncertain of the reality. visions of her would coax him into doing the right thing , tell him that everything was going to be okay - an angel with a hand upon his shoulder to simply guide , but this was a different beast , the secret monster within his messy closet that would only be found once all the clothes and history were wiped out.  so yes — he could only stare at the mess he created. how could she , after all , after everything still find herself to love him. he was a machine built to atone for the sins of war . it took him to shake his head to realize that this was not the monster hiding in his closet — this was not the after effects of damage done , this was his wife , albeit estranged , all be it damaged too much by his own demons but in their hauntings they stared together insuffering and the only thing he can do is whisper ( because speaking too loud makes it sound as if he deserved such mutual feelings ) ❛  i love you too . ❜  @benevolcntintent

Rowan was more than happy to unlock the door of her house and step in out of the cold. She flipped on the lights immediately and shrugged out of her coat before turning back to Amiyah and offering her a smile. 

“I can take your coat if you’d like,” she said, holding out her hand for it. “And feel free to get comfortable. Mi casa es tu casa. Take off your shoes, help yourself to anything in the kitchen. If you want to turn on the tv, feel free. I can even start up the fireplace. That kind of sounds nice right now, honestly.” @benevolcntintent​
