Eurovision is a bust for the third year running, so I will not be reviewing any of the participating acts this year. That said, Spain is still hosting its former preselection show, Benidorm Fest, despite having withdrawn over the EBU's commitment to whitewashing Israel's genocide. It would be a shame if Benidorm Fest lost hype because RTVE did the right thing, so I'm going to promote their acts instead.

Up next is Kitai with their song "El Amor Te Da Miedo.

This song opens with a crunchy baseline, and brings you into a pretty classic pop-rock sound. It's always nice to have a woman on the lead vocal, and the backing vocals from the drummer blend well with her.

The lyrics are about being in a relationship with someone who has a fear of commitment. The singer acknowledges the way the object of the song tries to push her away to protect their feelings, but says that she is too in love to let that deter her. She knows her love will come around eventually because the problem is not the relationship itself, but her lover's self doubt. It's a nice bit of variety compared to more standard love song story lines.

The music video is essentially just a rehearsal clip. Each member of the band has enough charisma when they perform, that I think there won't be too much of an issue with the performance feeling static which sometimes happens when you have bands like this on a larger stage. They will still need to bring something special to be contenders for the win, but it seems like they have a decent starting package.
