1911 handgun

Painted in Metallic and flat black, on aged and mached paper I tried to convey how the light catches this piece at different angles, but it truly has to be seen in person.

Currently working on a series of firearms, which is also coinciding with an onslaught of Alice in Wonderland commissions. Its quite the variety in the studio currently.

The M1911, also known as the Colt Government or "Government", is a single-action, semi-automatic, magazine-fed, recoil-operated pistol chambered for the .45 ACP cartridge. It served as the standard-issue sidearm for the United States Armed Forces from 1911 to 1986. It was widely used in World War I, World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. The pistol's formal designation as of 1940 was Automatic Pistol, Caliber .45, M1911 for the original model of 1911 or Automatic Pistol, Caliber .45, M1911A1 for the M1911A1, adopted in 1924. The designation changed to Pistol, Caliber .45, Automatic, M1911A1 in the Vietnam War era.

You Are My Cup Of Tea Series Metallic and flat black acrylics on mached paper, Framed

This part of the series contains a classic Teddy bear, wearing a red bow, sitting in front of a cup of tea. The header of the image is a vintage flourish banner that contains the title.

The definition of Cup Of Tea is an expression that is used to describe something you like, something you are good at or something you enjoy doing. The series started with an Alice in Wonderland base, but the phrase has really described these pieces as well. After a long hiatus, Benjamin Sawin has come back and shown that painting truly is his cup of tea.

The metallic paints used shimmer and dance in the light, while the flat black outlines make sure that the image is clearly defined from all angles.

Truly another great piece from an amazing artist.

Its that time again, chairs for charity. Where I picked out a chair from their warehouse, and recreate it into something new. That new chair is then auctioned off, and the proceeds help assist a great charity.  After many delays due to the pandemic, this years event will be an online auction.
