What about Benjamin?
Ah, Benjamin. To me, Benjamin is the angel who’s notorious for mixing up human gender norms, relationships, and concepts. He’s the kind of guy who thinks all humans look the same when it comes to gender, and he’s equally baffled by the difference between stupid semantics, like bonding and bondage. To him, they’re practically the same thing: both involve trust, attachment, and a little bit of restriction. ////
Dean, looking baffled: "Why do you keep saying human bondages? Don’t you mean bonds?"
Benjamin, shaking his head: "I meant bondage. When you’re deeply connected with someone—like I am with my human partner—you give up a lot of yourself. But it’s worth it. She’s devoted, and I’m devoted to her."
"Uh, no, no. That’s still not the same thing as bondage."
Benjamin, looking at Dean like he’s not understanding: "Well, technically, it is. Bonding requires a certain... surrender of control. You know, like a kind of emotional captivity. You let yourself be vulnerable."
Dean, uncomfortable: "Whoa, whoa, whoa. Are we talking about... bondage bondage? I don’t think that’s the same thing as just... connecting with someone."
"Isn’t it? You bond by letting go, by trusting them with your well-being. That’s the true essence of bondage, really." He pauses, a thoughtful expression crossing his face. "Family, for example, makes you stronger—a tightly tied knot. But it also makes you weaker, a vulnerability, a restriction. It’s like bondage. You can’t be free when you care about someone so deeply."
Dean, deadpan: "I’m still not sure you’re using the right words there, Pal."
Benjamin, whining: "Ugh, fine, maybe I’m not a philosopher, okay? You guys are so picky about semantics! What do the exact words matter if you understand what I'm trying to say?"
