I have an audition for my school next week for the sound of music and I'm one of the first people going for the singing auditions. There's not that much time to warm up before (because I'll be in class) and I can only hit the higher notes if I've warmed up. Do you have any suggestions for how I should warm up?
Yes! If you just have a few minutes to warm up, this is what I recommend. Making a few open, hollow "ooh" sounds to wake up your voice up, get your core engaged, and check in with your sound. Then do a nice, easy, "ooh-ooh-ooh" on "mi-re-do." Go up and down in your range a bit, really checking in with your voice and feeling where you are today. This can take under a minute, even so it's super quick, but gets your voice nice and warmed up in a jam! And drink plenty of water day of, you'll find your voice much more prepared when you do have to sing!
