A strange book, at the very least, also wildly entertaining. The writing style in this is captivating, making the character feel more like someone you are talking to instead of reading about. It was a different vibe from most other reads, while holding a lot of intriguing ideals. It also maintains a fun and quickly paced chain of events that kind of sucks you down and whirls you around the drain with it a few times before eventually funneling you through and giving you a decent “ah ha” type moment. I adored the main character and how you can really watch his mindset reform and react in different ways.
I gave it a 4 out of 5 because I think it was enticing and fun but I guess I just didn’t attach to this story as much as I have to some other readings recently. I don’t think this book should be glossed over though. It’s full of a heart and as a coming of age story, I think it can really hit the mark for a lot of us out there when the horizon isn’t looking so bright.
