The disappointment wasn’t what Benji had intended. Then he realized he’d been misunderstood entirely. He opened his mouth, paused, closed it again. Then finally figured out how to respond.
“No, see, I was making a little joke. Like “oh, you better hurry and do that” then you were supposed to say something like “oh fortunately I think I already have. And he looks a little like you” or something along those lines. Then we were going to laugh and then kiss. You know, if that’s something you want to do,” he explained, a small grin tugging at his lips.
