US Open Swing Dance Championships, Showcase division 1st place, Benji Schwimmer & Nicole Clonch

Holy. Shit. Written, spoken, and performed to by Benji Schwimmer and his partner Nicole, Benji turned his retirement piece into a love letter to West Coast Swing and the West Coast Swing community.

Just as Jordan and Tatiana dominated the Classic division for years and years, so did Benji (and his partners) dominate the Showcase division, and has hence been just as instrumental in shaping the dance and scene into what it is today. He retires from active competition a 14-time US Open winner (I think. I may have lost count) in the Showcase division (amongst many, many many other awards. And yes, he’s the winner of season 2 of SYTYCD).

It’s the end of an era, and what a way to go.
