Mister Ebenezer Forester,
Time: February 16th
Written from: The Parish
Status: Closed, for @cescapist
I hope the past week since we last spoke was as agreeable for you as it was for me.
I regret we didn’t have much time to speak during the dinner your mother arranged for me on Thursday night. I hope you didn’t think too badly of my silence when we had gone through, as it was not caused by any reasons you are to be faulted for. I’ve already sent her my regards for the lovely evening but if you wish to reiterate them to her, I’d be greatly obliged.
Yesterday one could’ve believed Spring was finally returning to St Maur but today I fear Winter will be a steady companion for at least another fortnight. Part of me is inclined to ask if you still loathe Winter as much as you used to when we were boys, but I don’t wish to overstep my welcome with this letter. A welcome, I am anxious, I’m not certain I even received. If that is the case, please make no note of my insolence and burn this letter.
There’s however a concrete reason I am writing you. I have been speaking to Lady Dinah who, on the topic of the above mentioned ever ongoing Winter, told me that Saint Mary’s is too cold. Now, this in itself is a surprise to no one who ever set foot in it. But she also told me that you spoke to her about a radiator? I initially thought she was joking, but your suggestion made the enterprise far less implausible. So is it true what she said? And is it true you might even have an idea how to install it? If it is one powered by an engine, would it not be too noisy for the parishioners? Would it destroy the foundations of Saint Mary’s? And how much would it cost -- if it’s not too forward to ask.
I assume I could’ve come and seen you, and I was more than inclined to invite you to the Parish, but I know how sunken you are into your studies, and I hoped a letter would be easier for you to reply.
With that I shall leave you.
