y'know, recently having re-listened to the mirror effect, something i've found strangely reoccuring in stewart sheargold's benny stuff (specifically referring to the mirror effect and short story fragments) is... benny's kid being objectified into a sort of display piece for brax's collection?
like i don't know what i'm trying to say, if at all. but it's just something to note. a similarity in two of his benny series works. because in the mirror effect we have reflection!benny accusing brax of that, using/planning to use peter as a display piece (which, let's get this clear, i don't think is correct. like obviously reflection!benny's accusations are just that: accusations. brax himself says that it's everything he's feared for her.) and in fragments (warning this gets weird if you haven't read the story) the benny-equivalent, uh, bashes brax-equivalent's head in with a bust of some statue because he's chosen to, uh, quite literally display the dead body of peter-equivalent in his collection in a glass case. no, i will not be explaining. go read the story it's amazing, i ranted/talked/went crazy about it in some dweu (not benny) server. because it's soo fascinating. anyway what were we talking about
