Left to right:

Laura Archer: Youngest daughter of England. Met Alphonse during her pirate days and has married him four times since. Rotates teaching English and Literature at a number of high-level universities in the UK purely because she enjoys teaching. Feels very insecure if not in control of a project or situation.

Alphonse Berriet: Youngest son of France. Archeologist who digs holes in the garden when the dig site isn’t open. Married a pirate but can’t swim. Has set the kitchen on fire multiple times because he gets distracted while cooking.

Benoit Chevalier: Oldest son of France. Has been 14 for over 800 years and is very tired of it. Avenged his mother’s murder and his own first death by ‘haunting’ the murderer until they confessed to their crime and were hung for it. Took the family name of a man who protected him during the French Revolution.

Benoit eats whipped cream straight from the can, and it disgusts Laura.

Benoit: How do tall people people possibly sleep at night when the blanket can't possibly cover you?

Konrad: Benoit, it is four o'clock in the morning.

Benoit: So, you can't sleep, huh? Is it because of the blanket?

Benoit: So, how was your fourth honeymoon?

Alphonse: Laura got drunk and tried to burn our marriage certificate.

Alphonse: She said, "Good luck trying to return me without the receipt."

The Benoit I know isn’t fit to be responsible for anyone, including and especially himself. I once saw him drink an entire jar of marinara sauce for dinner. He just opened up a new jar of marinara sauce and drank it like it was a thing normal people do. It was unholy. And then I asked him what the hell he was doing, and he said, and I quote, ‘It’s basically a smoothie’.

why is benoit stuck at a younger looking age? did something happen to "freeze" him?

Benoit was unlucky enough to suffer his first death at a young age (an axe to the face from one of his mother’s unhappy customers)….and unfortunately for him, the first death is the important one for these half-Nation kids.

When they die for the first time, they are, subsequently, revived for the first time by the same magic that allows the personified Nations to exist. This magic wasn’t really meant to interact with humans (that’s a whole ‘nother headcanon!), and creates a magical reference of sorts that’s then used to heal or revive the Nation-child from any future deaths/injuries.

Benoit, so far, is the youngest survivor to have his age ‘frozen’ this way, despite being nearly 800 years old in reality. He’s a little bitter about it, and very tired of short jokes.
