Berashith: In the beginning...
The purpose of this blog is to document the findings of my Spiritual journey. In order to understand where we are going, you should know where I am coming from. I grew up in Suburbia America as a white anglo-saxon protestant (WASP). I was raised in a Pentacostal Church until I was about 14, and then "converted" to the Evangelical Nondenominational... denomination. (The major difference being Oness/Trinity doctrine). Therefore, I grew up in the church, learning all the bible stories and everything that Jesus did for me. Church became the social hub for my life. Friends, Activities, Summer Camp and the like all under the umbrella of the Church. As I grew older, these stories became less important and I began to create my own way through life. I stopped going to church, and due to circumstances in my life, I had all but given up on God.
I looked at my life. The choices I was making, and realized that I was miserable. I decided that I was happier as a member of the "Faith" and decided I would rededicate myself to God. It was in this moment that I made the statement "God, I want to know who you really are, not just who I am Told you are". And as I began to dig into what I called 'Christianity', I realized that the portrait the Scriptures paint was not the same as the one Christian Tradition portrayed.
This is where my spiritual journey begins.
