Franz Joseph Haydn (Rohrau, 31 March 1732 - May 31, 1809) was one of the most important composers of the classical period. It embodies the so-called "Viennese classicism" alongside Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Ludwig van Beethoven. Posterity called this group "Viennese Trinity". In addition, he is regarded as one of the most important and influential authors in the history of Western classical music with a career that ranged from the end of the Baroque to the beginning of Classicism. It is considered the bridge and the motor that allowed this evolution to happen. He was brother of the equally composer Michael Haydn, Mozart's colleague in Salzburg, and tenor Johann Evangelist Haydn, who later Joseph will bring to Eszterhaza in 1763. Having spent most of his life in Austria, Haydn spent most of his career as a court musician for the wealthy Eszterházy family. Isolated from other composers, he was, according to himself, "forced to be original." His genius was widely recognized throughout his life. Haydn is considered the father of the classical symphony and the string quartet, as well as having written many piano sonatas, trios, amusements and masses, which became the basis of the classical style of erudite music composition. In addition, he wrote some chamber music, operas and concerts, which are not so well-known today. Haydn was the greatest influencer of the style of the time. The development of the sonata form of a rigid scheme in a subtle and flexible way of musical expression, which became dominant in classical musical thought, is almost entirely due to Haydn. He also created the sonata form, the double-variant form, and was also the first to integrate fugue and other contrapuntal models into the classical form.
Eleven years after his death, he discovered that the head of the Austrian composer Joseph Haydn had disappeared. Haydn's skull was only found 86 years after his death.
