a couple years ago i would’ve said that i prefer for fun minecraft events, that competitive players got toxic and it wasn’t fun to watch. but this event was so so fun, i loved watching people prep and people try and people care and STILL have so much fun. i think the difference is these players when they don’t do well and wanted to, rather than like crashing out and saying they suck or the games suck they say, “okay, now how do i do better next time?” when they see someone else do crazy well on another team, they congratulate them in chat. yesterday during mcc, fb trio were comparing scores in chat and congratulating each other when they did well, and whispering to each other to commiserate about annoying game design. it feels less like team versus team and more all the players versus the event, or versus their best possible performance. they want to do well for love of the game, winning is secondary.
