im  actually in the process of coloring this rn but i still wanna post this sketch

some bergwilliger stuff under the cut cuz i was talking about them on twitter 2day

some basis for why i think they’re similar and could get along:

-both fairly intelligent/intellectual in a variety of fields, can have interesting and stimulating conversations   -Bergstrom is into literature (cries reading Charlotte' Web), history, dinosaurs, mummification processes, music (plays the guitar, recognizes lisa's instrument case as a saxophone), geology (talks about different kinds of rocks)  -Cecil went to Princeton and is into engineering (hydroelectric and hydrodynamic), theater/literature ("funeral for a fiend" - prides himself on his acting ability, discusses Hamlet with Bob), music (makes a reference to the conductor Arthur Fielder in "Brother from Another Series," and sings The Carpenters' "Top of the World"), history (references Cappadocia) 

 -Cecil craves validation after being in Bob's shadow, Bergstrom is the best at giving validation -"Mom, this man makes you feel like there's nobody better." - Lisa about Bergstrom -Cecil's flashback in "Simpson/ Sideshow Sibling Smackdown" shows him being ignored in favor of Bob as a child, and the rest of the comic has Cecil trying to one-up Bob by destroying Lisa -"At last, I'm going to do what Bob never could!" Cecil in Brother from Another Series -Bergstrom's entire episode is about making Lisa feel smart and loved idk how to explain this better 

-they both have a rly good sense of humor -literally like all of Cecil's lines make me laugh he's rly snarky and funny -i feel like Bergstrom would appreciate Cecil's sense of humor, cuz his is kind of weird too 

-if they dated, Bergstrom would have more reason to visit Springfield regularly, and  1) he could stay at Cecil's apartment, so he doesn't have to stay in those pay by the day apartments  2) he would be able to see Lisa more often and be a more present role model  3) he could help facilitate a friendship/ mentorship between Lisa and Cecil, cuz Lisa wants to go to an Ivy League school and Cecil went to Princeton

idk some silly headcanons i have for them:

-they like traveling together..road trips or flying to other countries..when they drive, they listen to books on tape and take turns driving Cecil's car (but it took a while for Cecil to trust Bergstrom with his car. he's very protective of his stuff..Bergstrom on the other hand has a bunch of siblings and is inclined to share everything..also he doesn't own much considering how much he moves around) But Bergstrom really likes taking the train, so they'll do that and fall asleep leaning on each other 

-they go to museums and art shows/galleries together 

-cecil and bergstrom are both good cooks (bergstrom just isn't used to having all the ingredients and supplies on hand, so he's used to opting for microwave dinners or ramen noodles) and they'll both take turns making dinner...but sometimes they just order in and cuddle up on the couch eating chinese and watching old western films (they both point out historical inaccuracies..friends hate watching movies with them) 

-one time bergstrom substitutes at a school that hosts a career panel for the kids, so he invites cecil to talk about engineering 

-cecil has more dating experience, but he's still a little intimidated by commitment...bergstrom dated a bit in college but hasn't been on a date in years before cecil 

-for all the people he's met, cecil thinks mr. Bergstrom is the most interesting 

-Cecil used to not drink coffee very much, but mr. bergstrom has coffee every day and he gets Cecil hooked on it too 

-Cecil teaches bergstrom how to play the piano, and in return bergstrom teaches him how to play the guitar 

-speaking of the guitar...this is rly sappy but bergstrom loves playing his guitar for cecil and serenading him..his voice isn't that great and cecil definitely has more classical training than him, but still..his singing voice gives cecil butterflies something silly 

-bergstrom knew classic musicals and showtunes like oklahoma and fiddler on the roof before cecil, but cecil introduces bergstrom to a wider variety of showtunes and more modern ones..they watch chicago together -they're both big cuddlers 

-when they go out to eat, they each get a dish and they share..this started with Cecil constantly stealing some of Bergstrom's food off of his plate..they reached a compromise 

-cecil tells mr bergstrom that he has a brother but he doesn't like talking about him, so mr bergstrom doesn't ask about him...it's a while into their relationship before cecil reveals that sideshow bob is his brother (mr bergstrom knew that cecil liked krusty's show, but just kind of assumed that he was a bit of an elitist fan since he only watched the old episodes on VHS or when there were reruns on, and he refused to watch recent episodes..he understands a lot more when cecil explains the situation..later he wonders how he didn't notice the resemblance) 

-bergstrom is frugal but he still occasionally buys a scratch-off lottery ticket..cecil teases him about it 

-bergstrom isn't a big alcohol drinker, but he's warmed up a bit more considering Cecil is a wine fucker -I know we never see Cecil at town meetings but he goes and keeps Bergstrom updated on recent events
