It's like a whole trope. I suspect ground zero for the "stuttery bass and bitcrushed 'bwuh's when the Guy is secretly a Creature" thing is probably the theme "Oracle" from 1993's Secret of Mana, though it's possible that's itself referencing some earlier example I'm not aware of:

Quite so – for comparison, here's the same character's theme when they're still pretending to be human:

Secret of Mana's "Ceremony"/"Oracle" may not be in the same style as Deltarune's "NOW'S YOUR CHANCE TO BE A"/"BIG SHOT", but the "theme when they're a Guy"/"theme when they're a Creature" transition is 100% playing in the same space.

Triggering as a Brute really doesn't indicate any interesting psychological neuroses or hangups at all. Like oh you triggered as a Brute that means you *checks notes* find it traumatic to be hit with fists and rocks and stabbed with knives? Yeah no shit that came free with your amygdala and your hypothalamus. That's everyone.

Imagine showing up to the villain meet and all the villains there are like Thinkers and Strangers and Breakers who triggered from abusive relationships and being stalked and overdosing on Tinker drugs and you're there and your name is Lithos. And you triggered because you were being hit with a rock and really wanted to not be getting hit with a rock. It's pedestrian. You'd be laughed out of the room.

i saw a tumblr post a while ago that implied that the purpose of book reviews is to help the author get better at their craft by evaluating the book and pointing out its strengths and weaknesses, and i disagree with that so strongly. a book review is not for the author of the book you’re writing about. it’s for potential readers, and readers who want to see someone else’s thoughts on the book. and on a more personal level, it’s for you, the reviewer, to bring your own analysis and your unique perspective to the review. a book review is about the book you’re reviewing, obviously, but it’s also about you, and what that book meant to you, and why it affected you the way it did. a book review can and should discuss the strengths and weaknesses of the book, but not for the purpose of instructing the writer how to improve their craft. that’s not your job. the author of the book may read your review, but if you have the idea that you’re writing for them, that you’re their editor or pr manager, then you misunderstand the purpose of a book review, and your review will suffer for it.
