For ‪#‎FairytaleFriday‬, here is an illustration by Berkeley Williams Jr. (1904 - 1976) from Richard Chase's (1904 - 1988) The Jack Tales. The illustration comes from the tale "Jack and King Marock." Jack is a folk hero found in England, the US and Canada. He is similar to Hans, found frequently in German folklore and can represent the everyman or the trickster, depending on the tale.

Chase was a folklorist known for his work with English-American Folklore. Chase collected stories for The Jack Tales in Virginia and North Carolina's Appalachian Mountains.
