Who is Berne exactly?

Berne? She's Rosa’s bear beastfolk ex-girlfriend. They dated at RJA before Berne developed a crush on Neige, who she knew by then is Rosa's cousin, and broke up with Rosa as to not lead her on. Kora comes across Rosa right after Berne has left as that happens right after the VDC.

If you are asking who she's Twisted from, she's the Bear Prince from the story of Snow White and Rose Red.

As an adult, Berne's a Magical Enforcement Officer (What Deuce wants to do as an adult). Personality wise as an adult, very similar to Karlach from Baldur's Gate 3. She and Rosa don't really interact all that often as they have very different lives as adults, but when she shows up in Rosa's story, Vil is not happy. He thinks Rosa could stand to be less kind as Berne's breakup did hurt Rosa's confidence in herself a bit. It's why Rosa has trouble introducing anyone to her family, given Neige is her cousin.
