June 2016. This is the copy from the Facebook Event page: The nation's corporate and political elite, headquartered here in Washington DC, have stacked the odds against Bernie Sanders with dirty money and a monopoly on the national media narrative. They have long declared Bernie's campaign and the political revolution he represents dead, irrelevant, and down for the count. But we are here and our strength is immeasurable. As Bernie forges ahead to the Democratic National Convention, artists from DC, Maryland, Virginia, and beyond will join forces for a weekend group show supporting his campaign & movement: Bern the System! DC Artists for Bernie Sanders. With 50+ participating street/graffiti/fine artists and a massive mural production on the outside of the gallery, the exhibit will not only celebrate Sanders and his 40 years of bold, consistent, progressive leadership, but also uplift his vision of a political revolution and an end to the reigning corrupt political economic paradigm in America. Starting off with the show opening and following with two days of phonebanking for Bernie, this legion of locally rooted, socially engaged artists in the Nation’s capital, fight back and counter the narrative by injecting their voices into the political landscape. Join them as they take a stand against oligarchy, extreme inequality, unchecked neoliberalism, and neoimperialist foreign policy - and a stand for people power, the local and global working class and disenfranchised, and bold action for social and economic justice. #thefridgedc #dmvnessa #berniesanders #feelthebern #bernthesystem @berniesanders (at The Fridge) https://www.instagram.com/p/B-eg60Bh1kJ/?igshid=1fjswiwj1xiky
