Viola Roberts Lampkin Brown from #Berryville, #Virginia is now 110-years old, making her one of the very few people alive around the world who is a supercentenarian. Brown was born on October 4, 1911, in Hume, Virginia where she lived for 7 years with her parents, James and Maria Roberts, and her 12 siblings. They eventually moved to #ClarkeCounty where Brown worked cleaning, cooking, and caregiving for a family. In 1936, Brown got married to John Lampkin and lived in a home her husband built using a part of an old livery stable in Berryville. They had two children before Lampkin passed away in 1982. Six years later, Brown married her second husband Rev. Paul Brown, who died in 1998. Since then, she lived in the house that Lampkin built. Her daughter, 79-year old Vonceil Hill, stayed with her since last year when she became too frail to walk on her own. This year, she turned 110-years old and joined the rare list of #supercentenarians, wherein only 18 people around the world are confirmed alive, according to the Gerontology Research Group. Brown was surprised when some family and friends went outside her house to celebrate her birthday with her. She received flowers and other gifts and she was also recognized with the official Viola Roberts Lampkin Brown Day proclamation on October 4. “Every day’s a good day,” Brown said about her birthday, according to The Winchester Star. “The lord’s been really good to me.” Moreover, Brown has eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
