🖤Got some bess beetles today! The tank is coming along— just need to add some plants! I’m going for a forest-floor kind of look. There are also isopods and millipedes sharing the tank since it’s so large. Very excited to watch these guys!🖤
Horned Passalus Beetle, aka Betsy bug, aka Bess-Beetle, etc. They range between 30-40 mm (roughly 1-1.5 inches), and live together in decaying wood, where they chew tunnels with their large mandibles. Both male and female beetles process fungus from the wood and feed it to their larvae
