What Canadian geese has to do with color? Bear with me for a bit. I met someone in Brazil on late 80’s from Thailand. At that time I was not an image consultant. She asked me more than one time how I walk and move my hips because she would love to learn how to do that. I had no idea I moved my hips when walking! If I just knew then what I know today... Today, I know she was a summer. When she walked, she glided. She was refine, very ladylike. She didn’t need to learn how to move her hips! After observing my friends in the park this morning I concluded they aren’t summers neither winters. They don’t glide or floated when walking. They love socialize, you rarely will see one alone, and are quite lively. They let you know when they are arriving or leaving. Isn’t it lovely watching how they swing when walking! Yes!!! There is more to seasonal color analysis than color itself. Color analysis is directly connect to our personality. It’s translating the innate qualities of someone’s personality into colors. One of my image pains growing up was having red hair. All my friends had dark hair like her, and I was never daring enough to change the color either... It was definitely a journey to accept my natural qualities. My LBD actually is a LBD - Little Brown Dress or a LND - Little Navy Dress. My level of contrast is medium-low to low. Black and white is definitely not part of who I am. There is beauty in any level of contrast, low, medium, and high. When I learned to love who I am, and know what resonates with who I am, playing with clothes became fun. Really fun!!! Anytime is a good time to start honoring who we are. Being who I am... I confess I never liked being a very fair redhead growing up in Brazil. I wanted to be tanned as my friends and I burned. If I got too much sun I had freckles all over my body. It needed to arrive to my 40s to get it. To like what I have naturally. Take possession of what was mine all my life. As I read this morning, “aesthetics intelligence is our ability to understand, interpret, and articulate feelings that elicited by a particular object or experience.” It took me years to understand and interpret myself and generate feelings of liking myself by who I was. When I find pieces that relate to who I am, my inherent qualities, my essence, it generated an unbelievable sense of well-being when wearing them. When working with clients, that’s my ultimate goal. There isn’t a destination, just a start point and a commitment to continue the journey. Creating from what you already have. All came from my garden. The Cala lily from the front yard; the horse tail from a vase, the fern from the backyard. Changed shapes. The straight Cala lily got a curve, the horse tail was bent, and the fern remove some leaves. Do the same with your clothes. Manipulate them creating new proportions and new forms. Fold a hem, push the sleeves up, layer pieces. Creating new with what you already have.
