Vino Garage
Spanish translation of the French expression "Vins de garage" born in the 90's in Saint-Emilion, France to refer to good wines produced in a very small quantity.
The concept is the same across the ocean and also exists in the New World of wine where most of the wines are produced in large amount.
This morning I was introduced to the producers of Atlantaña, near Santa Cruz in the Colchagua Valley.
Each wine is numbered, and there are less than 90 bottles per year. They produce wines out of :
- Petit Syrah, which gives a wine quite acidic
-Carménère
-Petit Verdot
They prefer high quality to quantity. They want each bottle to be unique.
We were able to taste the new wines, and all the different wines they produce. The cherry on top is when I was asked to create my wine, choosing the blending.
